WORLD Vision Zambia, working with CFAO Mobility Zambia, last week handed over two classroom blocks, each with three classrooms, an ablution block and two teachers’ houses at Mphande Primary School in Kafue.
The school also received computers and a one-year internet package worth K180,000, donated by Paratus Zambia.
Allan Chirwa, a Grade 7 pupil at Mphande Primary School, thanked the firms for playing a major role in providing a conducive learning environment.
“You have made our school part of the global village by providing us with quality infrastructure and access to modern computer technology,” he said.
“The free Wi-Fi you have provided is much more than an internet connection. It is a gateway to e-learning, knowledge, innovation, and a brighter future. It opens doors to a modern world that many of our learners could only dream of.”
Allan said the project will have a long impact on future generations.
“You are our blessing. Your generosity will benefit not only the children who are here today but also many generations to come,” he said.
He appealed to the District Education Board to deploy additional teachers to meet the growing educational needs of the learners.
Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary for technical services Kelvin Mambwe said the new facilities will help address challenges of overcrowded classrooms.
“We are happy that partners such as World Vision Zambia are working with the ministry to improve learning conditions for our children,” he said.
Dr Mambwe, who was represented by director of primary education Felix Ngoma, said sanitation facilities will help keep girls in school.
Dr Mambwe said the Government remains committed to deploying qualified teachers, providing learning materials and improving school infrastructure across the country.
He encouraged the learners to utilise the facilities effectively by working hard in their studies.
World Vision Zambia national director Marc Nosbach said every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to learn.
The school will provide a conducive learning environment for 475 pupils.
“Every child who comes to this school has great potential. Our goal is to make sure they have the conditions they need to learn and grow,” he said.
Mr Nosbach encouraged pupils to value the new facilities by working hard.
“This school is yours. We built these classrooms because we believe in you.
All we ask is that you come to school, stay in school, and learn,” he said.
