Dear Editor,

I am a concerned student writing to express the urgent need for schools to implement comprehensive sensitisation programmes on gender-based violence (GBV).

Despite increased awareness, many students remain unaware of the forms, causes, and impact of GBV.

Schools play a crucial role in shaping young minds and must address this issue proactively.

GBV affects not only victims but also the wider school community by creating fear and silence.

Through sensitisation, students can understand the consequences of GBV, learn how to report cases, and be empowered to stand against abuse.

I urge the Ministry of Education to incorporate GBV sensitisation into the curriculum to create safer and more inclusive learning environments.

Sincerely,
Mary Tembo
