Swimming sensational Miti aims high

SEVENTEEN-year old Tamenji Miti is a talented upcoming Zambian swimmer known for her remarkable performance during national and regional events. From the time she took up competing in 2020, Miti has participated in several notable competitions among them, the African Swimming Federation Zone Five Championships and the African Junior Championships. Her journey in swimming is an inspiration to many young athletes who aspire to become competitive swimmers in future. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to balance sports and school make her a standout figure in the swimming fraternity.
Miti, who won Zambia’s only gold medal during the 2023 African Swimming Confederation Zone five Championship Luanda, Angola has proved that one can successfully balance school and sport.
She won gold in the 50 metres freestyle and walked away with a bronze in the 50 metres breaststroke. Her hard work has paid off as she was signed to be part of the City of Bristol Aquatics team of England for the next three years.
In an interview recently, Miti said she is excited with the opportunity she has received to hone her skills in a foreign land. “First things first, I would like to thank the City of Bristol Aquatics team for giving me this opportunity. I am excited with the journey ahead of me. I am really looking forward to learning more about swimming. I would also like to call on more young girls like me to join the sport,” Miti said.
“I can say I have learnt a lot about life through swimming it has taught me to be focus and resilience.” With her consistent performance and dedication, Miti is a promising athlete for Zambia.
Her achievements at a young age is evident that she has bright future in swimming if she continues with her dedication to the sport.
