CHUDLEIGH House School’s primary mathematics club has become a tool to help learners grasp challenging topics in the subject, with some now excelling in areas that once seemed difficult.

Anna Chomba, a Grade Two pupil, credits her improved understanding of mathematics to the club’s fun and interactive approach.

“At first, I didn’t know how to solve long division, it was difficult for me. But now, with the help of the club, I can also show my friends how to do it,” she said.

Another pupil, Daniel Kalaba, said the club has made learning enjoyable.

“Mathematics club is really nice. I enjoy it because we play games, and our teacher teaches us division and multiplication with examples that make the subject easier to understand,” he said.

Chudleigh House School mathematics coordinator Priscilla Muluso explained that the club was introduced to change the perception that mathematics is a difficult subject.

“In the past, people thought mathematics was very difficult, and I don’t want the learners of today to have that same picture,” she said.

She explained that the club engages learners playfully and diversely, helping them develop both skills and confidence.

Ms Muluso added that the club uses games, quizzes, and practical applications of mathematics to make the subject more enjoyable.

By integrating puzzles and playful activities, the club helps learners apply their mathematics skills to real-life situations, fostering both mathematical understanding and critical thinking.
