MWAPE Musonda, a 3rd year student studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from NIPA joined The European Union Ambassador to Zambia and COMESA, Karolina Stasiak, as she hosted a diverse team of women to mark International Day of Women in Diplomacy, which is commemorated on June 24th.
The event offered an opportunity for women comprising those in senior management in Diplomacy as well as young women representing various projects and institutions to share opportunities for growth, and insights into different ways to navigate opportunities and challenges in career growth and advocacy.
The International Day of Women in Diplomacy provides a platform to celebrate the remarkable women shaping diplomacy and driving change around the world. Ambassador Stasiak, as a host, created a wonderful opportunity for the young women to strengthen their passion for advocacy, collaboration, and youth participation as they interacted and shared their stories.
Mwape had the following takeaway: “My key takeaway from yesterday was when the panelists emphasized on the importance of setting priorities. When one aspires to work especially in diplomacy they will have to set their priorities and make hard choices. They need to create time for themselves and family and friends.
“Life is not all about work but also have a life outside work,” she said.
